2 3/4 C Flour
1/2 tsp. Baking Powder
1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
1/2 tsp. Salt
1 C. Softened Butter
1/2 C. Sugar
1/2 C. Corn Syrup
1/2 tsp. Vanilla
Assorted Hard Candies, Coarsely Broken
Combine Flour, Baking Powder, Baking Soda and Salt; set aside. Cream butter and
sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy; blend in corn syrup and vanilla.
Gradually blend in flour mixture; divide dough in half. Wrap each half in plastic
wrap and refrigerate until chilled, about 20 minutes. Roll out one portion of dough
between 2 pieces of wax paper to 1/4" thickness; cut into fun shapes with cookie
cutters. Cut out designs from shapes with paring knife or mini cookie cutters to
make "windowpanes" Repeat with remaining dough; arrange cookies on lightly greased
aluminum foil-lined baking sheets. Place in the freezer for about 10 minutes. Fill
cut-out areas with colored candy pieces. Bake at 350 degress for 8 - 10 minutes.
Transfer cookies and aluminum foil to wire racks to cool. Gently peel cookies from
aluminum foil. Makes about 2 1/2 dozen. With remaining little mini cut-out cookies, make frosting sandwiches.
